Hybrid & EV Repairs & Servicing
Hybrid & EV Repairs & Servicing in Bolton - A&S Car Care Centre
With the number of electric and hybrid cars on the roads constantly increasing, so is the demand for garages that can repair and service these vehicles.
There are clearly significant differences between electric vehicles and standard, internal combustion vehicles, and a very different skill set is required to be able to repair and service them safely and effectively. At A&S Car Care Centre, we have embraced this development in the automotive industry and have adapted our premises and have undertaken training so that we can offer electric and hybrid car repairs and servicing at our workshops in Bolton.
We’re a family-run business that wants to provide the very best for our customers so it’s important to us to be fully trained and qualified in every aspect of work that we do, especially when for example, working on the high voltage systems of electric vehicles.
Currently, we have four technicians qualified to between IMI level 2 and level 4 (the highest level) in repairing and servicing electric and hybrid vehicles and training is ongoing so that we continue to learn and to improve.
As qualified technicians, we are pleased to have become affiliated with HEVRA (the Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Repair Alliance) which is a network of the very best specialist electric vehicle repair centres across the country.
Yes, they are. Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts that can go wrong so tend to break down less and are generally cheaper to maintain than a traditional car.
Electric vehicles are exempt from urban congestion charges so you don’t have to pay anything, but hybrid vehicles do now incur the same flat fee as traditional internal combustion vehicles.
If your car is an EV, you don’t have to pay road tax because your electric car doesn’t give off any exhaust emissions. Hybrid cars are subject to road tax, which is emissions-based. Until 2025, hybrid cars incur less tax than traditional vehicles, but from 2025, they will incur the same flat rate.
It will very much depend on the size of the battery and on the charger that you use and so can take anything from between 30 minutes and 12 hours.
Most electric cars have a range of between 130 and 300 miles although some can go a lot further. As technology improves, the distance of one battery charge will increase.
Yes, once you’ve had a charging point installed, this will probably be the most convenient way to charge your electric car.
You can charge your car at home if you have a charging point installed, which is probably the most convenient option. But there are plenty of charging points in public places such as supermarkets, gyms, cinemas, retail parks and town centre car parks. Have a look at the map below to find the nearest charging points to your location.
A&S Car Care Centre is proud to be affiliated with both the AutoCare and Approved Garages invitation-only associations of quality garages and also with HEVRA, the UK-wide network of specialist electric vehicle repair centres.
